Creative Campus Presents: Exposure: A Local Music Series

Featuring electronic musician Justin Peake with Neal Riley and student band Kadesh and the Perfect Strangers

Tuscaloosa, AL- September 23, 2009- Creative Campus will present Exposure: A Local Music series on October 2nd from 7:30-9:30 PM in the Ferguson Center Game

Room at the University of Alabama

Exposure: A Local Music Series aims to expose students and community members to original musicians within Tuscaloosa and surrounding areas.

Creative Campus is kicking-off its monthly local music series with electronic musician, drummer, and composer Justin Peake, who is a former Tuscaloosa

resident currently working his way up in the Brooklyn music scene. Accompanied by computer-generated-music-inspired visuals by Neal Riley, Justin’s music

making is self-described as the following: “Beautiful Bells is my electronic music. I write music for trios, large bands, orchestras, and solo performance. I

improvise on drums, electro-acoustic percussion, laptop, and whatever is placed in front of me with many people”.

Times Picayune writes:  "...an anomaly in a city that measures drummers by the power of their backbeats and the high-stepping energy of their parade rhythms.

Oh sure, he can get funky with the best of them but he is also a composer and subtle colorist who keeps things moving even as the music approaches a

whisper." -Times Picayune 2009

Student band Kadesh and the Perfect Strangers will start off the event. Boasting both a versatile background in various musical genres ranging from jazz to

hip hop and a passion for quality music, Kadesh and the Perfect Strangers looks to deliver a thrilling experience to all audiences. The group of four, which

formed in April of 2009, includes Ryan “Kadesh” Davis, a hip hop vocalist and trombone player, guitarist Jake Smith, bassist Adrian Marmalejo, and drummer

Michael Batitto. As can be expected, KPS adds a unique twist to the typical band format with the use of the trombone as a lead voice, and they easily lean

into Rock and Roll, Jazz, and Rhythm and Blues during their highly interactive performances. Currently performing in the Tuscaloosa/ Birmingham area, Kadesh

and the Perfect Strangers looks to expose the University of Alabama and other music fans to their unique blend of hip hop and rock.

Starting at 7:30 and ending at 9:30 PM in the Ferguson Center Game Room on October 2nd, this will be a show that you don’t want to miss! Come listen, dance,

and experience a night of innovative music that boldly approaches the intersections of hip-hop, jazz, and rock while providing concert-goers with energetic,

danceable beats. Best of all, it's FREE!
