Moral Forum

Moral Forum Debate (with Center for Ethics & Social Responsibility)

Each year, the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility sponsors the Moral Forum, a debate tournament encompassing controversial moral issues. Creative Campus partnered with the Center to host the final debate of the spring 2006 tournament, in which the top two teams debated the issue of Physician-Assisted Suicide. Following the formal debate, the 92 attendees at the Ferguson Center participated in a community discussion on the topic. Creative Campus senior intern Kristi Wilcox pointed out that civic engagement, communication skills and talerance are necessary in building a creative community in Tuscaloosa. She saw the ability for debate attendees to raise questions and concerns in a civilized, conversational manner as a step toward that goal. Creative Campus also offered refreshements to foster a comfortable atmosphere for the program.
