The Rebirth
The Rebirth was a part of the University of Alabama's Homecoming festivities in conjunction with the Crossroads Community Center. The program was actually inspired by the Italian Renaissance. Its purpose was to revive all art forms and to educate students about the range of arts activities on the campus of The University of Alabama. During the duration of the program students were exposed to various forms of art such as music, poetry, spoken word, and visual art. The Rebirth received phenomenal performances by students as well as faculty and staff. There were performances by: Dr. Anthony Bolden, Dr. Yolanda Manora, Jackie Ross, Alexa Denegall, and Kimberly Goins. Intern Angelica Agee designed the original art piece featuring a phoenix being reborn from flames which became the visual image associated with the event. The Rebirth was held October 29, 2008 during the lunch hour in the Ferguson Center's University Programs Lounge.
